Public bug reported: how to reproduce the issue
1. clean install of Ubuntu 23.10 on something like a Dell Optiplex 5050 + GTX 1650 2. make sure nvidia-driver-535(proprietary, tested) is installed and active 3. install Blender 4.1.1 from Snap 4. open Blender and go to the GPU settings, GPU should be listed 5. update to current patch level IE update-manager ( reboot ) 6. upgrade to 24.04 via update-manager -d ( reboot ) 7. open Blender and go to the GPU settings, GPU should be missing to fix 1. switch to nouveau ( reboot ) 2. switch back to nvidia-driver-535(proprietary, tested) ( reboot ) 3. open Blender and go to the GPU settings, GPU should be listed Dell Optiplex 5050 ( GF's daughter's computer, she uses for Blender 4.1.1 ) I7-7700 GTX 1650 + nvidia-driver-535(proprietary, tested) was on Ubuntu 23.10 Did an update-manager -d to 24.04 and everything seemed to go smoothly. I opened Blender 4.1.1 and it couldn't find the GPU. I had to switch to nouveau, reboot, switch back to nvidia-driver-535(proprietary, tested), and reboot and Blender 4.1.1 could find the GPU again. I did the same on my computer Custom PC i5-12400F Arc A750 + intel's Ubuntu Repo was on Ubuntu 23.10 Did an update-manager -d to 24.04 and everything seemed to go smoothly too. I opened Blender 4.1.1 and it couldn't find the GPU.
