I have the same issue on the same version of wine and ubuntu. On Ubuntu 23.10 I could run the game without issues.

Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Release: 24.04 Codename: noble wine --version wine-9.0 (Ubuntu 9.0~repack-4build3) I can execute normal HoMM3 installed from GOG, bu I can't run HotA version or Heroes HD mode with the normal version.
