I have similar symptom: after upgrading to linux-
image-5.15.0-112-generic, upon boot the screen goes black and does not
display the usual prompts to unlock disk or log in to ubuntu user
account.

The issue is recurring, repeated attempts to boot using
linux-image-5.15.0-112-generic give the same result (black screen).

Restarting and using grub to boot using linux-image-5.15.0-107-generic
works around the issue.

One of the folks impacted in the above reddit thread reported that their
although their display was black, the machine booted and they were able
to interact with it normally over SSH.
