Thank you for fixing the bug.

How can this be avoided for the future? I know this is free software,
and so we the users have limited entitlement to expectations of the
software, but a large number of people having a degraded system for over
2 months is not really acceptable. Why could the regression not be
rolled back? Why did we need to sit in a broken state for so long? I
understand if people are busy and can't fix the issue in a timely
manner. But if they are too busy to fast-track a fix, can the breaking
change please be rolled back? Was there something preventing this?

I'm not trying to point fingers or lay blame. I am sincerely curious
about what new procedures will be adopted to prevent a repeat of a High
Importance issue sitting broken for so long.
