Just a little tidbit also, for vicomte:

if you have a 4xxx series wifi card like i do, here it your fix to get
wifi up and running:

find and download the file V11.1.1.0_XP_DRIVERS.zip

I think you can find it on the intel website.

unpack it and pull out the NETw4x32.INF file (if you have a 32-bit OS)
or the NETw4x64.INF file (if you have a 64-bit OS).

apt-get install ndiswrapper

run this command from the folder there your INF file is:

$ sudo ndiswrapper -i NETw4x32.INF

now run the next line:

$ sudo gedit /etc/modules

and add in at the end of the file:

ndiswrapper

This will ensure that ndiswrapper module gets loaded on every boot.
Now, I hope this works for you, as it has me on my two computers! I run
an Intel 4965AGN chip on one and an Intel 4229 on the other. I have yet
to have a problem with the driver. Good Luck!!!
