I inspected test results and noticed that this passed with kernel 5.15.0-118.128, but failed with 5.15.0-121.131 (jammy).
I inspected kernel changes between these versions and didn't notice any changes that would impact either i915 or its i2c interface or i2cdetect userspace library. Kevin Yeh, from the certification team, suspected that this might be missing edid emulator on mering device and afterwards confirmed that this is not a regression.
