I checked repositories and only have the noble ones - no third party so I cannot purge. For a time, I could not log in at all but have reconfigured the bios so that the original choices appear. This way I can check UEFI, start Windows, enter recovery mode with the requisite screen of options but on entering Ubuntu, my prime choice, I ebentually just get a full terminal screen where I can enter user and password (after originally rentering password through the recovery mode as it had disappeared). I cannot get a GUI working. Often get error cannot display.
