Hi, Bruce, No, I always get the grub menu, as well, but I'm only able to boot via recovery mode, afterwards, similar?
Ubuntu also runs fine, if I boot into it using a pen-drive i.e. Ubuntu live, I'm not sure what happens during bare-metal installation that causes this. Are you 100% certain this is an Nvidia driver issue, and not say UEFI, OEM firmware etc.? I see you've already posted on nvidia forum, I have also created a thread: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/all-linux-distros-fail-to- boot-on-geforce-960m/307298/6 But haven't got any useful solutions so far. I'm now using Ubuntu 24.10, and 560-series drivers, but I get the same issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2031198 Title: Alienware 15 R3 boots to black after upgrade to 22.04, Cannot use other TTY interfaces either (ctrl+alt+f2, etc) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-535/+bug/2031198/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
