I discovered this bug two months ago and filed it as a serpate bug ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/162206 ).. Perhaps these issues are more related then we thought at first.
Well the driver is not as good as the windows version due stuff like this. Yesterday I had my first freeze when I was playing Urban Terror (www.urbanterror.net) for an hour. I'm not 100% sure but it feels like that the 3d performance decreases when your playing longer.
