Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

After my upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10 I started to experience some very
disturbing appearances of the document recovery.

As an example I tracked down one appearance to the following reproducible
behavior:
- create a new plain text file "crash.csv" with the following data (in one
line): "1","2007121010000089","3"
- open file with calc
- in text import dialog choose row type "Text" for all columns
- save file as "crash.odt"
- close calc
- open file "crash.odt"
- close calc (with no changes made)

Either at the first or the second closing attempt calc will display the
document recovery dialog -- but with no files listed. The same will
happen at all following closing attempts (with no changes made to the
document). After pressing "OK" writer is started with an empty document.

This behavior can be tracked down to the string "2007121010000089",
which can be anywhere in the spreadsheet. Even saving the file as *.xls
does not prevent the error above.

Although saving of modifications seems to work properly, the display of
the document recovery after closing leaves a bad feeling -- especially
when working with large files, which can't be checked easily. I hope
this is fixed soon, because I am actually thinking about switching back
to Ubuntu 7.04 or worse: Excel. If more information is needed, I will
gladly put them in here.

Thanks,
Sascha
