It seems this was done deliberately some time ago so that cal would be 100% drop-in compatible. Then in 2020 highlighting was disabled in cal entirely, upstream in Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=904839
Regarding the documentation, it's a little subtle, but the manual page covers multiple commands, and in the SYNOPSIS section at the top, -h is not shown as a valid option for cal, and valid for ncal, which seems to match what each command supports. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #904839 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=904839 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1736632 Title: cal -h doesn't disable highlighting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bsdmainutils/+bug/1736632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
