Thank you Egmont for your reply. Ok, I understand now. I am running Ubuntu 25.04 (from daily/current) as Virtual Box VM.
I tested Firefox screen size and it actually behaved differently. Firefox opened in maximized first and then adjusted itself, its vertical columns did leave some space on the desktop but horizontal lines moved behind the desktops lower edge! Not like terminal which occupied the whole screen!) I disabled auto-maximize and now I can control the size of windows myself. I love it ;) Thanks! I will move this to "mutter" as you suggested.
