Public bug reported: Every so often the desktop takes on a mind of its own and starts doing random phantom mouse clicks. Sometimes it gets so bad I end up booting into Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS which is dead stable.
Content menus start popping up as if a phantom was clicking the right mouse button. If I'm unlucky sometimes it also actions one of those menu items and ends up generating a "New folder" on my desktop. If I'm in Notepadqq editing a document random edits sometimes occur whilst I'm typing, at which point I've have enough and shut down the system before it does something I don't notice like deleting stuff. Last time this happened I had just opened up a 12MB file in Notepadqq which seemed to kick it off. Laptop fans also came on so the system was under duress as well doing something. A few logouts and reboots and it was still occurring with the system just sat at the desktop. 22.04.5 LTS never has this problem - I'm entering this report using 22.04.5 to do it. I've seen a few other bug reports of mouse issues but nothing exactly like this, so logged it in case others are seeing a similar problem. 22.04.5 LTS and 24.04.5 LTS fully updated as well. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Every so often the desktop takes on a mind of its own and starts doing random phantom mouse clicks.
