> reverted one more commit, pushed to test3.. will test myself tomorrow
Just tested, same problem but with less messages issued:

gnome-remote-de[2230]: [RDP] Failed to register PipeWire buffer: Failed to
allocate device memory: -1000072003
gnome-remote-desktop-daemon[2230]: [00:39:38:143] [2230:000008b6]
[ERROR][com.freerdp.core.peer] - [rdp_set_error_info]:
ERRINFO_GRAPHICS_SUBSYSTEM_FAILED [0x0001112F]

Notice that these messages issued in all previous test were not issued in this
test:

gnome-remote-de[2226]: [RDP.CLIPRDR] Client capabilities: long format names
gnome-remote-de[2226]: [RDP.RDPGFX] CapsAdvertise: Accepting capability set
with version RDPGFX_CAPVERSION_107, Client cap flags: H264 (AVC444): false,
H264 (AVC420): false

NOTE: FORGET IT!. In a second reboot and test these messages were issued
as always so it's just the same problem.

> install 'vainfo', run it and attach the output from both good and bad case
> nevermind, that's always failing
Yep, that's a classic in the Raspberry Pi. Some programs instead of check if
vaapi accel is available and then use it, just try to use it and give and error
if not available before trying another accel API. This remote desktop is one of
these programs but the most annoying is vlc.

Did you manage to reproduce the problem in your RPi400?
