** Summary changed:

- Since Gutsy, HP DESKJET 895C is no longer "powered on" before printing
+ HPLIP does not "power on" my printer (HP DESKJET 895C) - Works with standard
USB CUPS backend

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: hplip

+ UPDATE (13 Jan. 2008) :
+ The automatic "power on" feature work with this device URI :
+ usb://HP/DESKJET%20895C?serial=ES9771C0R0FB
+ But not with this one:
+ hp:/usb/DeskJet_895C?serial=ES9771C0R0FB
+
+ So it is not a regression but a HPLIP CUPS backend bug.
+ See my comments.
+
+ ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION :
  Behavior under Feisty :
Printer is powered off. When I print something on it, the printer is
automatically powered on and does its job.
  Behavior under Gutsy :
Printer is powered off. When I print something on it, the printer is not
automatically powered on and nothing happens. In Cups admin
(http://localhost:631/jobs/), the task is stopped. I need to power on manually
the printer and restart the task.

lpinfo -v output (same ouput with printer powered on or off) :
  $ lpinfo -v
  network socket
  network beh

  direct epson:/dev/lp0
  direct hal

Here is what happens when I try to print with the printer power off in
/var/log/messages :
