Upon running "sensors" from the lm-sensors package, one of the temperature sensors reports this: acpitz-acpi-0 Adapter: ACPI interface temp1: +48.0°C It otherwise reports a temperature in the mid-30s - Putting the laptop back into suspend, waiting a few seconds for the fan - to stop and then opening the lid, thus resuming from suspend, will - usually fix the problem of the fan running, and the incorrect - temperature report.
