OK. If the only known working framebuffer device is virtio and that's
loading after SimpleDRM then one possible workaround is to disable
SimpleDRM: plymouth.use-simpledrm=0

But ideally we want our platforms to have a sysfb device that SimpleDRM
can use because it sounds like that's what is missing. Maybe some real
RISC-V boards do have that and this bug is specific to VMs, in which
case we wouldn't want to fix it just for VMs and risk removing a working
splash from the real hardware.
