This case got a MIR ack and a security ack. The open questions have been tackled or discussed and ruled out. Related improvements landed in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dbconfig-common/2.0.25ubuntu1 and thereby this is ready to go.
There has been some back and forth on -nothanks (less dependencies and code) vs -pgsql (more useful but having more to debate).
