Public bug reported:
When running Firefox or Chromium in a Wayland session using Snap, I
experience aperiodic freezes: those can happen twice in a minute or once
per day.
The browser window becomes completely unresponsive; a force stop is
required.
Every time it happens, dmesg reports that the following D-Bus operation
is being denied by Apparmor:
audit: type=1107 audit(1757435434.457:324): pid=2333 uid=101
auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 subj=unconfined msg='apparmor="DENIED"
operation="dbus_method_call" bus="system"
path="/org/freedesktop/timedate1"
interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" member="GetAll" mask="send"
name=":1.303" pid=27124 label="snap.firefox.firefox" peer_pid=27343
peer_label="unconfined" exe="/usr/bin/dbus-daemon" sauid=101 hostname=?
addr=? terminal=?'
When I've switched the snap.firefox.firefox apparmor profile to Complain
mode, the browser ran for a week without any freezes.
Please kindly consider permitting the usage of
/org/freedesktop/timedate1 to firefox and chromium via their respective
apparmor profiles.
If I use a browser that runs outside of the Snap confines (e. g. Google
Chrome installed as a deb package), I do not experience any freezes.
Ubuntu release: 25.04 with all deb packages and snaps updated to latest
versions from official Ubuntu repositories.
Snapd version: 2.68.5+ubuntu25.04.2
Expected: being able to use the default browser without freezes.
Happened: aperiodic freezes both in Firefox and Chromium.
** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
