Public bug reported:

A ZIP-file placed directly on the GNOME desktop can be extracted using
the context menu command "Extract here". This creates a new folder to
hold the extracted contents. The folder name should be created by
stripping the file extension from the archive file name and leaving just
the prefix. On the whole, this works, but the '.' separating the prefix
from the extension becomes part of the folder name. This is unexpected,
the '.' should be stripped away as well.

Steps to reproduce:
- Place any ZIP-Archive "aaa.zip" on desktop
- Right-click ZIP-archive and select "Extract here"

Observed behavior:
- Contents are extracted into a newly created folder named "aaa."

Expected behavior:
- Contents are extracted into a newly created folder named "aaa"
