Thanks so much for this. I purged the nvidia packages and reinstalled via 'Additional Drivers'
I also learned that when I try to boot 24.04.3 normally (6.14 kernel) it hangs after 'Loading initial ramdisk'. Booting from the 6.11 kernel, both journalctl -b and journalctl -b-1 show 6.11 boots. Looking at the timestamps, I verified that the hung 6.14 boot wasn't recorded. The only way I can boot 6.14 is with recovery mode. I've attached the journalctl from it. ** Attachment added: "recoveryBoot.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2127879/+attachment/5918287/+files/recoveryBoot.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2127879 Title: 24.04.2 upgrade to .3 fails reboot (Xorg freeze?)
