Thanks so much for this. I purged the nvidia packages and reinstalled
via 'Additional Drivers'

I also learned that when I try to boot 24.04.3 normally (6.14 kernel) it
hangs after 'Loading initial ramdisk'. Booting from the 6.11 kernel,
both journalctl -b and journalctl -b-1 show 6.11 boots. Looking at the
timestamps, I verified that the hung 6.14 boot wasn't recorded.

The only way I can boot 6.14 is with recovery mode. I've attached the
journalctl from it.
