Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-sound-base
I upgraded the kernel today, now I have no sound. I used to use pulseaudio, so I switched back to alsa in any case, but no chance. Everything looks OK, no application complains about the sound, I can use the sound mixer, etc. Just no sound in either the high speakers or through earphones. At boot, I can hear the "click" when the sound card is activated. I followed the "Sound Troubleshooting" wiki page but it was no help. I just have to boot on the 2.6.24-3 kernel to have sound back. I suppressed my ~/.asoundrc* files with no change. I filed the bug against linux-sound-base, but it's only a guess.
