Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source

Same kernel, except compiled with thinkpad_acpi as module or compiled-in.
Hardware keys work fine, though.
Brightness applet and gnome-power-manager brightness options do not work when
thinkpad_acpi is compiled as a module.
However, all works fine when thinkpad_acpi is compiled into the kernel.

This is on a Thinkpad T40p

Kernel version: 2.6.22-14
Suspend2 patches applied, but patches don't affect thinkpad_acpi files.
Generic kernel's brightness doesn't work properly either, but I have not
compiled the generic kernel with thinkpad_acpi built-in. I would assume it's
the same.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
