Public bug reported:

The problem may look similar to #2011385, but I log a separate bug, as
the amplifier may not be quite the same.

Fresh install of KUbuntu 25.10 selected to have the ipu7 camera drivers
(available starting with kernel 6.17).
Never heard any sound from speakers. I have sound from headphones, a bluetooth
speaker or a USB Jabra.

This machine has 4 MAX98390 mono amplifiers, as it has 4 speakers (left boomer,
left tweeter, right boomer, right tweeter. COrresponding to i2c-2 bus,
addresses 0x38, 0x39, 0x3c, 0x3d.
Looking at /sys/bus/i2c/devices, I found that ACPI enumerated one device, ans
likely the one at 0x38. It is strange because if I dump the acpi enumeration, I
can see acpi list the 4 devices.

Having the max98390 driver running and part of the alsa setup is a MUST
if I am to hear any sound.

SO out of the box, fresh from install, I can see no instance of the
snd_soc_max98350 driver running and bound to the other alsa drivers.

I have been successfully binding the devices by means of the /sys
userspace interface, and have confirmed that the driver is loaded by
runnin these commands :

echo max98390 0x39 >/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-2/new_device
echo max98390 0x3c >/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-2/new_device
echo max98390 0x3d >/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-2/new_device

and then I can see the snd_soc_max98390 bound to the other alsa drivers
(lsmod).

NB: it is not possible to run
echo max98390 0x38 >/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-2/new_device, and this is linked
to a /sys entry :
/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-MAX98390:00
but this entry has no driver link inside, meaning that it has not been bound to
the max98390 driver

I however still cannot hear any sound.

In short there are two issues :
1) why does ACPI enumerate all 4 devices but only seems to bind to the one at
0x38, without launching the ddriver for it
2) why even when driver is bound on the other 3 devices do I not hear any
speaker sound.

What is strange is that alsamixer reports the alc298 correctly, the icon
at the bottom right does show fluctuations on the speaker volume bar,
yet I hear no sound.

I am available for further troubleshooting as I understand that not
everybody has that particular PC.

The issue sounds like a long running issue with Samsung Galaxy books,
with only some sort of fix for Book 2 and Book 3.
