Binary package hint: ekiga
Hi again,
I upgraded to Gutsy two days ago and I now have a new problem
receiving/making the first call of the day in Ekiga and I find Ekiga
needs to be killed off and restarted. (The person I call was on Feisty
but also upgraded to Gutsy (one day ago for him), and the problem still
exists for me. So I get the problem whether the recipient is on Feisty
or Gutsy, with me always being on Gutsy of course.)
In short, when I fire up Ekiga and make the first call, a problem occurs when
the recipient answers the call.
We appear to connect and stay connected, but there is no sound in either
direction and no video images at either end either. Furthermore the
disconnect/hang-up button will not work and Ekiga appears to be almost frozen,
so I have to kill it off (a forced quit) and restart it. (The same issue
occurs if I am receiving the first call of the day as opposed to making it.)
After restarting Ekiga it is normally all OK and I can make and receive
calls OK.
The recipient also cannot see or hear anything either and appears to be
connected as far as he is concerned, but he has not had his Ekiga
crash/freeze as far as I know. My Ekiga definitely almost freezes
though, and seems to have crashed perhaps, but I didn't wait ages for
it, I just hit the top-right [X] button to close it and then I chose
Force Quit as Ekiga was not responding. (The recipient person did not
have to do this to his Ekiga.)
This faulty-connection issue (not sound/no images) has happened a few
times to me now and seems to be reproducible. (It's always the first
call of the day, after booting up and then starting up Ekiga.)
Both myself and the recipient use normal Ekiga SIP based accounts from
ekiga.net by the way.
Hopefully you can reproduce this bug and with any luck you will work out
what is wrong.
