Public bug reported:
Built-in speakers produce no audio. Headphones and microphone work correctly
via ALC298 HDA codec. Audio plays through PipeWire with no errors, but no sound
from physical speakers.
Root cause identified:
The internal speaker amplifier is a Maxim MAX98390 (I2C, ACPI path
\_SB_.PC00.I2C2.MX98). Two issues prevent it from working:
1. ACPI HID mismatch: Device firmware reports HID MAX98390 but the
snd-soc-max98390 driver only matches acpi*:MX98390:* — one letter difference,
so the driver never auto-loads
2. Missing SOF topology: No sof-lnl-max98390-*.tplg topology exists for Lunar
Lake + MAX98390. Topology files exist for ADL but not LNL.
3. Probe fails: Even with module manually loaded, bind returns I/O error — chip
needs SOF DSP initialization before I2C is accessible
