Public bug reported:

OS: Kubuntu 26.04 development release

Steps to reproduce:

1: Install Meld: `sudo apt install meld`
2: Create two blank files: `touch ~/a; touch ~/b`
3: Attempt to compare them: `meld ~/a ~/b`

Expected result: Meld pops up and says that the files are identical.

Actual result: `Segmentation fault (core dumped)`

This is occurring with the latest upstream version of Meld as well,
though it's unclear if it's the fault of Meld or a GLib-related library.
