Thank you for your guidance. Here are the results: 1. Initial platform profile: performance Fan speed: ~4800 RPM
2. After switching to balanced: Fan speed: ~720 RPM (normal) So the issue is confirmed: the "performance" platform profile causes the fans to run at maximum speed on kernel 6.17.0-19-generic. Switching to "balanced" resolves the fan issue. Note: kernel 6.17.0-14-generic does NOT have this issue — the "performance" profile works correctly on that kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2144508 Title: Dell G15 5520: Fan stuck at maximum speed (~4800 RPM) after upgrade to kernel 6.17.0-19-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.17/+bug/2144508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
