Thank you for reporting this issue with the SPR 532 pinpad reader.
This bug was filed against Ubuntu Hardy (8.04), which is an End-of-Life
release that no longer receives support or security updates. The openct
package has since been removed from Debian and only exists in very old
Ubuntu releases like Trusty, not in any current supported version.
Since you've already found a workaround by adding the udev rule
manually, this issue can be considered resolved for your system. If
you're using an older release, we recommend upgrading to a currently
supported Ubuntu version for continued support and security updates.
