Hi Andrei,
Thanks for reporting this issue with the empty warning dialog when
selecting an NVIDIA driver.
Based on an analysis of the software-properties and ubuntu-drivers-
common source code, the issue might possibly be in how error messages
are handled when driver detection fails. The on_detect_drivers_done()
function receives an error parameter from the driver detection logic,
but there's no validation to check if that error message is empty before
passing it back to display in the dialog. When detection returns an
empty string or None, the dialog still appears but shows nothing useful
to the user.
I'm marking this bug as Confirmed so the maintainers can address this
issue in ubuntu-drivers-common. The fix will likely involve adding
validation to ensure error messages aren't empty before displaying them
to users - assuming this is the root cause.
Thank you for helping improve Ubuntu!
