Public bug reported: Versions lsb_release -d: Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS netplan.io : 1.1.2-8ubuntu1~24.04.1 and 1.1.2-8ubuntu1~24.04.2 microovn (ovs): 25.09.3+snap99decfe38c
I'm attaching the microovn[0] version because it may or may not be relevant to the issue. The OVS binary/service is provided by the microovn snap, not by the system package. As the title says, the 'netplan-ovs-cleanup' service fails during the system boot with logs: Subject: Unit process exited Defined-By: systemd Support: http://www.ubuntu.com/support An ExecStart= process belonging to unit netplan-ovs-cleanup.service has exited. The process' exit code is 'killed' and its exit status is 15. Apr 04 12:41:39 example.org systemd[1]: netplan-ovs-cleanup.service: Failed to kill control group /system.slice/netplan-ovs-cleanup.service, ignoring: Invalid argument Apr 04 12:41:39 example.org systemd[1]: netplan-ovs-cleanup.service: Failed with result 'timeout'. Subject: Unit failed Defined-By: systemd Support: http://www.ubuntu.com/support The unit netplan-ovs-cleanup.service has entered the 'failed' state with result 'timeout'. Apr 04 12:41:39 example.org systemd[1]: Failed to start netplan-ovs-cleanup.service - OpenVSwitch configuration for cleanup. Subject: A start job for unit netplan-ovs-cleanup.service has failed Defined-By: systemd Support: http://www.ubuntu.com/support A start job for unit netplan-ovs-cleanup.service has finished with a failure. The job identifier is 91 and the job result is failed. My suspicion is that this could be a service ordering issue because looking at snap.microovn.switch (OVS) logs, they show that it started only after the netplan-ovs-cleanup failed: Apr 04 12:41:39 example.org systemd[1]: Started snap.microovn.switch.service - Service for snap application microovn.switch. Subject: A start job for unit snap.microovn.switch.service has finished successfully Defined-By: systemd Support: http://www.ubuntu.com/support A start job for unit snap.microovn.switch.service has finished successfully. The job identifier is 189.
