Public bug reported:
Distribution: Linux Mint 22.3 (based on Ubuntu 24.04 Noble)
Kernel: 6.17.0-20-generic
Hardware:
MediaTek MT7925 Bluetooth (USB ID 0489:e111, Foxconn)
Issue:
Bluetooth device is detected in lsusb but is not automatically bound by the
btusb driver.
Symptoms:
- bluetoothctl list may be empty OR controller shows Powered: no
- Bluetooth does not turn on automatically
- Manual intervention required after every boot
Workaround:
echo "0489 e111" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id
Persistent workaround:
udev rule to bind device and power on Bluetooth
Expected:
Device should be automatically recognized and bound by btusb without manual
steps.
This appears to be a missing device ID in the btusb driver for USB ID
0489:e111.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
