The kernel is tainted by the proprietary NVIDIA driver which is directly
involved in the failure path. Recommend the reporter:

 1. Confirm which previous kernel version had Night Light working
 2. Test if Night Light works with the open-source nouveau driver (to isolate 
kernel vs nvidia-driver)
 3. Check if updating the NVIDIA driver (from 535 to 550 or 560 series) 
resolves the issue
