Thanks for the explanation :) Really, it is as you said: on 600 MB, 350 are cached memory. This is not distinguished from real memory in top nor in ksysguard (for kde3). but it is distinguished in gkrellm and ksysguard-kde4. Gasp, Akregator uses 10 MB of RAM!!! :) I have tried to compare ram usage between KDE4 and KDE3 with Compiz. Ok, it seems that KDE4 uses 80 MB much than KDE3. I think it is because in KDE4 it is necessary to load QT3 libraries yet, infact we still need to use programs compiled for KDE3
So, false alarm... sorry for the waste of time and for my bad english :)))))))) I'm going to set this bug as invalid. Thanks anyway! ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid -- KDE 4 uses too much ram! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
