Public bug reported:
Dear Ubuntu Kernel and Platform Team,
I am requesting support and guidance for running PLDM-over-MCTP
validation on Ubuntu, specifically for manufacturing test use cases.
Our validation tool depends on host transport availability for MCTP, not
only PLDM protocol logic. We need reliable support for the following
transports:
MCTP over PCIe
MCTP over USB
MCTP over I3C
Current observations from our lab:
Ubuntu 24.04.4, kernel 6.8.x: MCTP core is present, but the required transport
capability for our target path, especially PCIe, is not available at runtime as
needed.
Impact:
We cannot execute end-to-end PLDM hardware validation on standard ODM host
images.
This blocks manufacturing validation and increases integration cost.
Request:
Please provide the recommended kernel/config baseline for complete MCTP
transport support over PCIe, USB, and I3C suitable for PLDM.
Please confirm whether these transports are currently supported in your release
and, if not, the expected roadmap or ETA.
Please share the required kernel config options, modules, and runtime
prerequisites, including device nodes and sysfs interfaces.
If upstream patches are required, please advise on the backport plan or
supported workaround.
Please provide a technical contact or path for joint debugging on this
enablement.
We can provide full command logs, environment details, and reproduction steps
on request.
Thank you for your support.
