## SRU — hiprand 7.1.1 → 7.2.3
[ Impact ]
* This update bumps the hiprand library from 7.1.1 to 7.2.3. The sole
upstream change is a build infrastructure refactor in
cmake/ROCmCMakeBuildToolsDependency.cmake: the legacy
find_package(ROCM) call with a manual download fallback has been
replaced with find_package(ROCmCMakeBuildTools) using CMake's
FetchContent mechanism. The include(ROCMUtilities) call, which was
already a no-op in packaged builds, has also been removed. There are
no changes to public headers, library symbols, or runtime behaviour.
[ Test Plan ]
1. Build:
- dpkg-buildpackage succeeds.
- dpkg --compare-versions confirms 7.2.3-0ubuntu1 > 7.1.1-0ubuntu1.
- No debian/*.symbols file exists for this package; ABI stability
was verified using abidiff (see [ Other Info ]).
2. Installability:
- apt install libhiprand1 libhiprand-dev succeeds.
- Reverse dependencies (packages built against libhiprand-dev)
remain installable without rebuild.
3. Autopkgtest:
- Run autopkgtest suite (libhiprand1-tests).
- All tests pass.
- Output:

[ Where problems could occur ]
* The upstream change is confined to CMake build infrastructure and
has no effect on the installed library or its behaviour. The only
risks are the usual infrastructure concerns (LP builder
unavailability, transient network issues during the build), none of
which relate to library functionality.
[ Other Info ]
* No debian/*.symbols file exists for this package. abidiff between
7.1.1 and 7.2.3 shows no functional ABI changes — the only diff is
a __hip_cuid_* symbol rename, which is a compiler-generated per-build
unique ID with no ABI significance.
* This update is part of the coordinated ROCm 7.2.3 stack release.
