Hey Andreas, from what I understand, this was initially an FTBFS which was
resolved with a stub that simply allowed the build to proceed. This bug is then
addressing the logical issue surrounding that temporary FTBFS fix.
In the Questing MP, there was
https://git.launchpad.net/~mirespace/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/commit/?id=1a2bfc52e9533a382840854d6d82eda0444bc392
which has the patch to address this.
Likewise,
https://git.launchpad.net/~mirespace/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/commit/?id=78759349b8d3219a81fe3fe732e222fe4fc1b587
 from the Resolute MP, and
https://git.launchpad.net/~mirespace/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/commit/?id=e6db4c439f0d0d7abe5fa134288912591b2a28ac
from the Noble MP contain the same content.

That commit on each MP specifies that it addresses (LP: #2106484). Based
on the fact that this package has passed Microsoft's end-to-end testing
(which tests basic functionality as well as the continued compatibility
of various extensions) as well as CPC's Cloud-Test-Framework, that means
the package builds, runs, and maintains the expected behavior per
Microsoft's requirements as well as ours. Notably Microsoft searches for
error messages, stack-traces, and reported normal behavior in all tests.
