Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev
Kubuntu 7.10, udev 113-0ubuntu16 udev seems not to load the appropriate driver for USB devices. When I hotplug eg a USB stick, it recognises the event but doesn't do anything else: UEVENT[1200851503.450300] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-1 (usb) UEVENT[1200851503.450350] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep00 (usb_endpoint) UEVENT[1200851503.451475] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-1/5-1:1.0 (usb) UEVENT[1200851503.451496] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep01 (usb_endpoint) UEVENT[1200851503.451509] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep81 (usb_endpoint) UEVENT[1200851503.451520] add /class/usb_device/usbdev5.10 (usb_device) UDEV [1200851503.453103] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-1 (usb) UDEV [1200851503.455136] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep00 (usb_endpoint) UDEV [1200851503.493306] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-1/5-1:1.0 (usb) UDEV [1200851503.495735] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep01 (usb_endpoint) UDEV [1200851503.497489] add /class/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.10_ep81 (usb_endpoint) UDEV [1200851503.522996] add /class/usb_device/usbdev5.10 (usb_device) When I modprobe the driver (usb-storage) manually, it works as it should. Same with an Palm Zire 71 and the visor driver. On my laptop with exactly the same versions it works; I couldn't find any differences. Workaround: Manual load of the drivers. If anybody could point me to a possible debugging strategy, I could investigate further... ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- udev doesn't load device driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
