This was due to the update error that Ubuntu has already regressed. The Ubuntu people need to be more careful in their regression testing. The error was quite annoying and widespread. I saw several posts discussing it in my company's discussion forums. I really want to like Ubuntu, but right now I don't feel like I can recommend it to people...
