I've been using the version in proposed for the last three days (6.6.5-0ubuntu0.2), and have seen no problematic behavior. Theme switching works. Running through the test plan from comment 2 (try six different themes twice each, for a total of 12 theme changes) on physical hardware works exactly as expected. I did not see any plasmashell or other crash.
