I reviewed the original MIR report and the subsequent discussion against
the current dbus-broker package in stonking, currently 37-5ubuntu3.
The original MIR rationale still holds from the MIR team perspective:
dbus-broker is still intended to become the default system bus provider,
the package builds on the relevant Ubuntu architectures, has build-time
and autopkgtest coverage, has no new dependency MIRs, and the previous
rationale for promoting bin:dbus-broker to main remains valid.
A few details from the original report are now stale and should be read
with the later comments/packaging in mind:
* the reviewed version is no longer 33-1, but 37-5ubuntu3;
* the package does contain embedded c-util subprojects, as already noted in the
earlier MIR review;
* Ubuntu now carries a larger AppArmor-related patch stack, including
fixes/backports beyond the original AppArmor discussion;
* the dbus-run-session/GDM blocker discussed earlier appears to be resolved by
the GDM 49 changes;
* the transition plan is now narrower: promote bin:dbus-broker, while keeping
the non-daemon src:dbus binaries that are still needed in main.
I do not see a new MIR-team blocker in the current package. The
remaining work appears to be the already-identified transition/security
items, in particular final security review of the current package/patch
stack and the archive changes described in comment #40:
* move Provides: default-dbus-system-bus to dbus-broker;
* adjust dbus-user-session to prefer dbus-broker;
* update the relevant seed(s).
So from the MIR review side, the previous ACK still stands for promoting
bin:dbus-broker to main, subject to the security team being satisfied
with the current 37-5ubuntu3 package and the transition pieces being
completed.
