I'm not sure the dependencies were the same at the time, but in the case you describe I would apt-get remove .*pulse.*, ctrl+c, and copy the list of packages to a 'dpkg --purge <package list>' command line (may need to add --force-depends). Then 'aptitude install <paste package list>'.
