$ sudo snap refresh lxd
2026-07-01T22:08:46Z INFO Waiting for "snap.lxd.daemon.service" to stop.
error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Run configure hook of "lxd" snap if present (run hook "configure": cannot
perform operation: mount --make-slave /tmp/snap.rootfs_UyAXFd/etc/ld.so.cache:
Permission denied)
And I got it to work again by doing this
sudo systemctl stop snap.lxd.activate.service snap.lxd.daemon.service
sudo systemctl restart snapd
sleep 3
sudo systemctl start snap.lxd.activate.service
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/lxd-wont-start-due-to-mounting-
permission-issue/84729
However, now I'm running into similar issue with nvtop
$ nvtop
cannot preserve mount namespace of process 160595 as nvtop.mnt: Permission
denied
unexpected eof from helper process
I have a Garuda Linux system that's having similar issues with LXD, and I
didn't do that thing I did on my Ubuntu server to get it working as I don't
have anything important running on it, and nvtop is working fine
