Hi Krystian, I tested mainline kernel 7.2.0-070200rc4-generic and got the same result, the issue reproduces identically:
$ uname -r 7.2.0-070200rc4-generic $ sudo dmesg | grep -i "ELAN0718\|i2c_hid" (no output) $ sudo cat /dev/input/event6 (no data received while touching the touchpad) So the touchpad still doesn't get probed at all and i2c_hid_acpi never even attempts it, no errors, nothing in dmesg related to ELAN0718. Since this happens on the latest mainline kernel too, it doesn't seem to be an Ubuntu specific packaging/config issue, looks like it could be upstream or possibly related to how the ACPI tables on this HP model expose the device. Let me know what else I can check.
