As mentioned in the comment above, the issue has been resolved in Debian, and normally this would be automatically synced to the development version of Ubuntu. However, there's a couple of complications.
The current version of unoconv in Ubuntu Stonking is 0.7-2ubuntu2 and the Ubuntu-suffix tells us the package has some Ubuntu-only changes. Since the package has additional changes someone would either need to do a merge to combine the extra changes with newer Debian version or manully sync the newer version if all changes can be dropped. (From what I can see, the original changes was done to prevent unconv from building on riscv64 since that platfrom didn't have libreoffice anyways. This seems to have been resolved, and I believe the extra changes could be dropped and the packaged synced) However, the package has been removed from Debian testing due to https://bugs.debian.org/1087383 which cause problems with LibreOffice. I'm not that familiar with this package to understand the full details, but I wonder if that should be resolved before syncing a newer version or not. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #1087383 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1087383 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2085639 Title: unoconv won't launch in 24.04 due to Python 3.12 distutils removal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unoconv/+bug/2085639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
