Public bug reported:
After upgrading to Linux kernel 7.0.0-28-generic, my Huawei MateBook D16
no longer powers off correctly.
System:
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Huawei MateBook D16
- BIOS 2.17 (2023-03-17)
Regression confirmed:
Kernel 7.0.0-27
- Poweroff works correctly.
- Reboot works correctly.
Kernel 7.0.0-28
- Reboot works correctly.
- Poweroff fails.
Observed behaviour:
The shutdown sequence completes successfully.
The display turns off.
The power LED is off.
However, the laptop never enters the final ACPI power-off state.
The Caps Lock and Fn keyboard LEDs remain illuminated.
Pressing Caps Lock toggles its LED.
The only way to switch the machine off completely is to hold the physical power
button for several seconds.
The issue started immediately after upgrading to kernel 7.0.0-28.
