Last good kernel: 6.14.0-37
Description:
After updating to kernel 7.0.0-28, the xHCI host controller crashes
shortly after boot, causing all external USB devices (like my Logitech
G304 receiver) and internal components (Bluetooth, Webcam) to
disconnect.
The dmesg log shows the following fatal errors:
xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.3: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead
xhci_hcd 0000:05:00.4: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead
This is accompanied by a massive flood of PCIe Bus Errors (AER) related to
the ath10k wireless module:
ath10k_pci 0000:04:00.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Correctable,
type=Physical Layer
ath10k_pci 0000:04:00.0: [ 7] BadDLLP
Troubleshooting steps taken (Failed):
On kernel 7.0.0-28, I attempted the following GRUB parameter
adjustments, none of which resolved the xHCI crash:
Disabled USB autosuspend via TLP (USB_AUTOSUSPEND=0) and GRUB
(usbcore.autosuspend=-1).
Masked AER spam (pci=noaer).
Adjusted IOMMU settings (amd_iommu=on iommu=pt
ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0 and later tried iommu=soft).
Limited deep sleep states (processor.max_cstate=5).
Attempted to reload the module (modprobe -r xhci_pci), but it is
builtin on this kernel.
Resolution:
Booting back into the older kernel (6.14.0-37) completely resolves
the issue. The xHCI host controller remains stable, USB devices work
perfectly, and the PCIe AER spam does not crash the system. This
indicates a clear regression in the 7.0 kernel line regarding AMD Raven
Ridge power management or xHCI handling.
