@juliank In the case of basic packages that only update themselves or perhaps a few dependencies, I would agree, but the NVIDIA GPU driver case specifically involves so many package changes for a standard update that I don't think it's unreasonable to give a more explicit hint (especially since there are many many people out there, in my experience, who often blindly `apt upgrade` rather than `full-upgrade` without really knowing the difference).
I also think that, if a person is deliberately running `upgrade` for some specific reason, they will understand their reason enough to simply disregard our suggestion. FWIW it is also the position of NVIDIA's DGX Spark team that this is what they would prefer from a product standpoint (so even if this SRU is rejected and we don't include it for all NVIDIA GPU driver users, we may still be asked to deliver it to Spark users via the Spark PPA - just FYI) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2164262 Title: [SRU][R] Warn users running apt upgrade that they should run full- upgrade instead To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dgx-desktop-defaults/+bug/2164262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
