On my AMD laptop, after online update, system is unable to boot to desktop, gets stuck in “job plymouth-quit-wait.service/start running (TIME / no limit)” and never finish.
Performed a factory restore and applied the updates one by one, found out after power-profiles-daemon upgrading to version 0.21-1ubuntu2, issue happened. power-profiles-daemon version 0.21-1ubuntu1 does not have the issue, but it's not in Ubuntu archive any more. When issue happens, removing “splash” from grub boot option can boot successfully.
