Description of the issue:
The internal built-in keyboard (i8042) is completely unresponsive right from
the boot.
Additionally, the USB-C port fails to provide power delivery to connected
external drives.
ACPI Errors in dmesg:
Booting the system reveals a critical ACPI error crashing the Embedded
Controller method WQBZ:
ACPI BIOS Error (bug): AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT, Index (0x000000032) is beyond end
of object (length 0x32)
ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.WMID.WQBZ due to previous error
(AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT)
Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Passed standard GRUB parameters: i8042.nopnp=1 i8042.direct=1
i8042.dumbkbd=1. (No effect).
Passed ACPI OSI spoofing: acpi_osi=! "acpi_osi=Windows 2020". (No
effect).
Passed irqpoll. (This results in an immediate Kernel Panic: "Fatal
exception in interrupt").
Attempted a DSDT Override to fix the WQBZ buffer limit manually.
Decompiled the DSDT, fixed the buffer size to 0x32, bumped the OEM
revision, and injected it via both initrd and GRUB insmod acpi. However,
due to modern EFI Stub behavior on UEFI systems, the patched DSDT is
ignored and the kernel keeps loading the broken ACPI table provided by
the HP firmware.
Conclusion & Request:
As seen in similar HP/AMD laptops, the WQBZ ACPI error might be a red herring
for the keyboard issue. The keyboard failure is likely caused by an Active-Low
/ Active-High IRQ polarity misconfiguration in the HP BIOS, handled by the
pinctrl-amd driver.
This perfectly matches the behavior described in Upstream Kernel Bug
#207867 (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207867).
Could you please investigate the provided logs and consider adding a
quirk for this specific HP board ID in the pinctrl-amd driver to
override the IRQ routing?
